  • Company knowledge: This shows an employer that you have done your homework about their company and are showing a sincere interest in it. 

  • Flexibility: Your ability to go with the flow when the situation demands it is important to employers. You will be seen as dependable.

  • Ambition and Motivation: Ambitious people are generally motivated enough to make notable improvements in the company as they progress along their career path.  Ambition usually brings increased benefits to the company, such as increased turnover or profits.

  • People skills: Your ability to get along with and relate to others is very important to an employer. They need to know that you are unlikely to annoy or generally upset your colleagues, if taken on.

  • Professional appearance: You should look the part. Clean and smart. Dress appropriately for the job you are after. No-one wants a scruffy individual working in their workplace. 

  • Ability to Multi task: This is a necessary skill in the workplace. You will often be required to multi-task, and your ability to adapt with calmness and willingness is essential.

  • Computer Literacy: Just about every company in the world these days runs on computers. The ability to work a computer and have familiarity with common software such as MS Office, Quark Express, and Linux is essential.

  • Reliability: Employers need dependable and reliable people working for them. Your ability to arrive on time is a good way to start when trying to prove that you possess this quality.
