Questions That You Should Ask Your Interviewer

It is a good idea to put to your interviewer a few questions of your own. It demonstrates an interest in working there, and that you have your own concerns. It also suggests that you are interested in the place and that it is for you.

Asking the right questions shows your prospective employer a seriousness to work for their company, and that you are an organized individual.

You should avoid asking any personal questions or those that are not directly related to the job.

Restrict your direct questions to those about the job, working environment or the company.

These are some questions you could ask your prospective employer:

  1. Why has this position become available right now?

  2. How many times has this position been filled in the previous 5 years?

  3. If I was appointed to this post, what would I have to do different from the previous holder of the position?

  4. What would you most like to see achieved in the next 6 months?

  5. What are the most difficult problems that this jobs entails?

  6. What freedom would I have in the decision making process?

  7. What opportunities are there for advancement?

  8. What successes has this company had in the past?

  9. What changes do you envision in the near future for this company?

  10. What criteria would have to be met to indicate success in this job?
